Hangers & Brackets

A-CROSS Corporation offers three types of hanging systems for our folding screens.

thumbnail image of screen hooks used to fasten a Japanese screen to a walls Type I The most common method being used to hang our screens is an 8-hook set with cushions, which is included with any screen we sell. It is easy to set up, utilizing only 6 hooks is adequate, 4 on bottom, 2 on top. Make a straight line for the bottom hooks, where you want the bottom of the screen to hang, and start the hooks by nailing them into the wall and then twisting them in. Place the cushions on the bottom hooks to protect the screen from scratching and damage.

image of a Japanese screen hanger which links to a larger image Type II The hanging bracket system is a specially made metal hanger bracket for 3' high screens which only requires two holes to be nailed or none for those residences with a cable-rail system used to eliminate holes to display paintings and pictures. You can get a better idea of how this works by checking out the illustrated directions.

image of a Japanese screen hanger which links to a larger image Type III The third system, a 5-piece bracket is used to display large screens and requires 8 screws (2 screws for each bracket) to hold four of the brackets with the last piece simply slotted at the top of the screen's middle fold.  This hanging system is only for four panel screens. If your screen has more than 4 panels, you will need two of these 5-pc sets.

To install any of these, first ensure the holes to be nailed are properly aligned by using a meterstick (large ruler) and mark holes using a pencil. Measure the pencil markings (for the screws) to the top of the ceiling to ensure that the holes are perpendicular. Once the bottom screw holes are marked the top is fairly easy.
